Welcome to our school

Celebrating 120 Years of The Manor

At The Manor, every child is Known.

Known for who they are today, for the unique qualities they bring, and for the limitless potential they hold for the future. It is this commitment to truly knowing, valuing and celebrating every child as an individual that defines our school and underpins everything we do.

The Manor is a thriving co-educational independent day school near Oxford, welcoming boys and girls aged 2 to 11. Rooted in strong values and guided by our principles of Challenge, Cherish and Inspire, we believe education should be about far more than academic success alone. It should nurture the whole child, helping them grow with confidence, curiosity, character and purpose.

Set within a beautiful nine-acre site on the outskirts of historic Abingdon-on-Thames, our school combines the warmth and friendliness of a close-knit community with boundless opportunities for learning, discovery and adventure. Children are encouraged to take risks, embrace challenge and develop a lifelong love of learning in an environment where they feel safe, supported and inspired to be their very best.

Founded in 1907, we are proud of our heritage, but even more excited by our future as we enter into our 120th year. Ours is a forward-thinking school that embraces innovation while remaining steadfast in the values that have shaped generations of Manor children. Within our grounded, down-to-earth community, pupils benefit from all the advantages of an outstanding independent education, free from any sense of entitlement or elitism. Difference is embraced, diversity is celebrated, and every child has the confidence and space to flourish.

Supported by exceptional staff, engaged families and a shared commitment to helping every child succeed, The Manor is a place where childhood is cherished, ambitions are nurtured and memories are made. Most importantly, it is a place where children are truly known, and where that makes all the difference.

I regularly have to pinch myself to check that I really am part of such a wonderful community.”

The Manor is a wonderful school that seems to have got the balance just right; I cannot fault it… positive, caring, encouraging staff, great facilities, a manageable, challenging, age-appropriate workload adapted to meet each pupil’s individual needs, a good balance of academics and extra curricular content that engages the children…

Manor Parent

Since joining The Manor a year ago, in Year 3, our son’s academic performance has improved significantly and, with this, his confidence and self belief. The school has been incredibly good at focussing on the needs of the individual. Staff are approachable and dedicated and the children welcoming and inclusive.

Naturally we are delighted with our daughter’s academic and sporting progress but just as important has been the way in which the school has taught her the abiding values of kindness, consideration, good manners and generosity of spirit.

Manor Parent

The Manor has provided an amazing environment for our child, right from Pre-Nursery to Year 6. In this time we have grown close to the school – its staff and parents. From first being shown around The Manor at an Open Day over 10 years ago, we have not considered any other place … We will certainly miss The Manor when it is time to move on. Thank you to all of the staff who make it what it is.

Year 4 enjoyed a truly eye-opening and inspirational visit from two guest speakers from Thames Valley Air Ambulance, one of whom is a parent of a child in Year 4.

The children learnt about their important roles, the life-saving work they do, and the challenges they face every day.

The children also had the exciting opportunity to try on some of the uniform and practise CPR!

A huge thank you to our guest speakers for sharing their experiences and inspiring our pupils.
